Relationships are dynamic systems.
Every couple will face issues in their relationship at some point. Some results stem from differences in their family backgrounds, while others stem from a lack of connection and the inability to listen. Some relationships also suffer from unresolved conflicts, infidelity, and other serious issues.
When conflict, miscommunication, cultural pressures, parenting demands, or emotional disconnection begin to disrupt the partnership, therapy can provide clarity, structure, and support.
My approach integrates trauma-informed care, relational systems theory, attachment-based interventions, and culturally responsive practice to help partners understand their patterns and build healthier ways of relating.
Each session is collaborative, grounded, and focused on helping both individuals feel heard and understood.
đź’ Some of my specialty areas include…
Neurodivergent & Neurotypical Couples – Couples may experience differences in communication, sensory needs, processing speed, or emotional expression. Therapy provides tools to navigate these differences with understanding rather than frustration. Couples will learn how to enhance communication within a neurodivergent framework, reduce masking pressure, address disparities in executive functioning, foster emotional attunement, and develop a shared language for discussing needs and boundaries.
Couples Navigating Special Needs Parenting – Parenting a child with developmental, learning, or medical needs often introduces intense emotional and logistical demands. These pressures can challenge even the strongest relationships. We will address several issues related to balancing emotional labor, navigating decision-making, reducing burnout and resentment, strengthening co-parenting communication, and protecting the partnership in a way that maintains connection while addressing parenting needs.
Latinx, Multicultural & Bilingual Couples – Culture shapes relationships, including values, communication styles, family expectations, gender norms, and identity. Couples will receive support for acculturation differences, the dynamics of first- and second-generation experiences, negotiating a bicultural identity, maintaining respect for extended family, bilingual expression, and learning to live together despite their diverse backgrounds.
🌱Here are some complementary specializations.
Beyond these core areas, I also work with couples experiencing high-conflict communication patterns, identifying reactive cycles, and building effective repair strategies.
We will also address emotionally focused and attachment-based concerns to enhance emotional safety, responsiveness, and connection.
Other areas of specialization include discernment counseling, support for life transitions, and strategies to enhance intimacy and emotional reconnection.
For those unsure about their relationship, I will help them develop a structured, short-term model to help decide whether to remain together or separate.
🧠My approach is based on several therapeutic modalities.
These include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT-informed), Trauma-Informed Care, Systems Theory & Family Systems Framework, Narrative Therapy Techniques, Culturally Responsive & Social Justice-Oriented Practice, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Couples, Communication Skills Building (Gottman-informed), and Attachment-Based Interventions.
My approach is integrative, and the selection of specific modalities depends on the particular needs of each couple.
The goal is to help couples move beyond surface issues to address underlying patterns and rebuild connection with clarity and compassion.
